The client Defend is creating a brand new game-like social media app and was looking to establish a visual identity with the MVP. I was in charge of creating the overall design systems and interactions as well as designing the AR shopping experience flow on the app that connected to the main e-commerce website. The goal of this platform was to provide a safer social media for all ages so it was important that the visuals were warm and welcoming and fun to use to reflect the gamified experience.
65square is a gamified social media app that reimagines the virtual shopping experience. Using augmented reality shoppers are able to try on and purchase products from businesses and creators across the world.
Problem Space
This new social media experience aims to be more authentic and safe and virtually represent how we make connections in the real world. Our target audience ranges from kids to young adults which meant we had to figure out a way how to be playful but not too youthful. We were inspired by nature and trees as they represent interconnectedness and feeling grounded. We used nature motifs and illustrations throughout the experience to reflect this visual identity.
